Bonfire Restrictions

What you need know about bonfires on the site.

The following guidance has been drawn up in collaboration with the fire service and respect for our local neighbours
Bonfires are banned during the months of July and August to prevent fires getting out of control and to keep good relations with all of our neighbours.

At other times bonfires may be lit from Monday to Saturday, but are banned on Sundays. Allotment holders should be aware of the prevailing winds and where smoke might go whenever they plan to light a bonfire and should refrain from doing so if smoke would be a nuisance to surrounding properties..

Bonfires should only be used for burning dry plant material and wood. Plastic, rubber, clothing and other man made materials should not be burnt as they produce carcogenious fumes which are dangerous to health.
