Summer Watering

With the weather hotting up again can we ask everyone to be economical with the amount of water that they use.

The best time of day to water is early morning when plants get a chance to use the water before the heat of the sun evaporates it. Second best is late afternoon or early evening, but when there is still enough sun to dry the leaves, avoiding the growth of mould or fungus.

Also you should water deeply but less often which helps plants to build strong roots that can use water in the soil. For more information on watering see the National Allotment Association website for more information.
